HostAdvice speaks with Mr. Vitaliy Gritsay from Serverspace to learn more about the company - grab your favorite drink and enjoy this insightful interview!
What are the beginnings of Serverspace?
Serverspace is an international cloud provider offering virtual servers powered by vStack or VMware platforms. The company entered the cloud market as Serverspace in 2019.
Initially, Serverspace provided Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) exclusively using VMware. Users could only create servers on this single virtualization platform. Later, we integrated the innovative hyper-converged platform vStack, and in 2020, became the first cloud service provider to offer virtual servers based on vStack. This innovation earned Serverspace the top spot in the global virtual machine performance test, as recognized by GeekBench. Users can now choose between vStack and VMware platforms, managed seamlessly through our custom-built control panel.
What were the challenges that the company had to overcome?
The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges, affecting internal operations and the growth of the cloud technology market. During this period, the demand for online services surged as businesses shifted to remote work. To meet these evolving needs, we expanded our service offerings, introducing new solutions like Managed Kubernetes and Cloud VPN, launching the Terraform provider, and enabling features like NAT and Firewall configurations.
Internally, our team adapted quickly to remote work. Despite the challenges, this transition was smooth, and virtual team-building activities, such as sharing pet moments, kept morale high.
What are the markets that you are operating at the moment?
Cloud infrastructure is essential across various industries, from small tech startups to large enterprises. Our services cater to those managing corporate infrastructure, including remote offices, CRM systems, and information portals. Virtual servers are also ideal for testing web and mobile applications, logistics automation, and more. Key industries we serve include EdTech, E-commerce, digital agencies, streaming, and logistics.
Where are your data centers based?
Serverspace operates data centers in seven global regions: the USA (New Jersey), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), Kazakhstan (Almaty), the UAE (Dubai), Brazil (São Paulo), Turkey (Istanbul), and Canada (Toronto). We plan to add a new location in Singapore shortly.
What are the main products and services of Serverspace?
Serverspace specializes in virtual server rental using one of two powerful virtualization platforms: vStack or VMware. The lightweight and innovative vStack platform, built on open-source technologies like the bhyve hypervisor and FreeBSD OS, enables high-performance server deployment in as little as 40 seconds.
To meet the growing demand for containerized applications, we offer Managed Kubernetes, which simplifies cluster creation for tasks ranging from local testing to enterprise software development. For users handling heavy system loads, our High Availability clusters ensure stability with three control plane nodes and built-in traffic routing via Ingress controllers.
Additional services include secure isolated networks through Edge Gateways with configurable NAT and Firewall rules.
To streamline infrastructure management, we offer tools like API, CLI, and our Terraform provider.
We would like to learn more about the Cloud for E-commerce option.
Our virtual servers are perfect for hosting e-commerce platforms, online stores, or marketplaces. During peak sales periods, resources such as CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth can be scaled up effortlessly. Once the peak subsides, resources can be scaled back to reduce costs. Additionally, our DNS service ensures domain delegation to fault-tolerant servers with easy management through our control panel.
What are your plans for the next 12 months?
In the coming year, we aim to expand our infrastructure by introducing virtual servers and Kubernetes clusters in Canada. Improvements to our Managed Kubernetes service, including persistent volumes and a web-based Kubernetes Dashboard, are also on the horizon. Additionally, a new control panel interface optimized for various devices is under development, enhancing user experience.
We’re also preparing to launch new services, such as S3-compatible storage and a CDN for faster static content delivery.
Finally, is there anything else you want to share with our readers?
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Serverspace. We hope to welcome you as one of our valued customers.
